Purpose of the role
The Head of Energy, APAC will drive the growth of TEAM LEWIS’ new energy practice across the APAC region, working in collaboration with the regional management team.
With a focus on maximizing revenue growth opportunities, the Head of Energy will mandate teams to exceed client expectations whilst ensuring operational excellence. This leader will provide counsel on risk preparedness, live crisis response, and reputational resilience. They will shape strong, long-term relationships with clients, positioning TEAM LEWIS as an indispensable and strategic partner in achieving goals and objectives.
The Head of Energy will lead notable new business credential presentations and pitches and ensure the smooth onboarding of client wins. They will bring holistic thinking to tackling client briefs and problem-solving. Understanding the macro-economic, political and cultural trends that clients face, the Head of Energy’s strategic and transformational insights will enthuse clients to be braver and invest budget to break new communications ground.
Engaged with the evolving artificial intelligence landscape, the Head of Energy will actively explore how AI-driven insights and tools can elevate strategic communications and drive superior client outcomes.
Main responsibilities
Practice leadership : define and implement the practice vision, strategy and commercial targets
Client counsel : act as a senior advisor to major accounts on energy transition, decarbonization, Net Zero and crisis preparedness. Provide hands-on leadership in managing crises : including training with simulation exercises and live incident response
Campaign leadership : shape and oversee campaigns that position clients as leaders in clean power, innovation, and UN climate initiatives. Ensure campaigns integrate earned, owned, shared and paid strategies. Ensure that KPIs and service agreements are defined
Growth & profitability : drive new business opportunities, lead pitches and convert prospects into long-term clients. Maintain profitability across and ensure commercial discipline
Collaboration & cascade : work to cascade opportunities across the region. Ensure smooth coordination of knowledge and resources
Team development : recruit, coach and develop consultants in the practice. Foster a high-performance culture and build future leaders in the discipline. Promote a culture of innovation and curiosity, especially around AI, for continuous professional improvement
Reputation building : position TEAM LEWIS externally as a leading corporate consultancy in the energy sector. Represent the practice at industry forums and in media commentary
About you
Ambitious, dynamic and positive, you have proven experience of leading and growing an energy portfolio for an agency. A “hunter” of new business, your network is extensive and your reputation is strong. You have a track record of winning and retaining major accounts as well as driving organic growth from existing clients. A strategic thinker, you enjoy counselling c-suite clients and devising stakeholder engagement campaigns that build trust and drive change. Mission focused and commercial, you operate at speed to exceed goals and deliver results. A charismatic leader, you know how to motivate a team. You relish business challenges and thrive in an international environment.
Additional requirements
Energy sector expertise : oil and gas, coal, electricity generation and distribution, renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy)
Knowledge of trends and issues impacting corporate reputations and complex stakeholder audiences
Curious about emerging technologies, with a particular interest in the strategic applications of AI in comms; proactive in leveraging AI innovations to drive business growth and operational efficiency
In-depth experience in corporate reputation management, strategic positioning and behavioral change campaigns, executive communications, risk and crisis management
Understanding of diverse cultures, communication styles, values, practices
Relationship builder who connects quickly, adept at navigating stakeholder relationships and networks
High level of business acumen, including successful commercial management
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to problem solve, project manage, prioritize and multi-task
Integrity, humility, self-drive / initiative – and a sense of humour!
